The Plan & Where to Read It
The Highland Council has prepared a Highland wide Local Development Plan. The current "Proposed Plan Draft" (hereinafter referred to as "the Plan") can be inspected free of charge during normal opening hours at the following locations:


Every public library within the Highland Council area

Content & Purpose
The Plan represents the Council's land use vision, strategy and principal, general policies for the whole Highland Council area except that part within the Cairngorms National Park Authority boundary. It is an important, statutory document that affects the consideration of planning applications and other public and private investment decisions.

Local Development Plan Surgeries
The following surgeries are by appointment only, you can book an appointment by contacting the Development Plans Team (01463) 702259 or devplans[AT]highland.gov.uk. Each appointment will last a maximum of 10 minutes if you have a number of issues you would like to discuss please book a double appointment.


27th September - Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road,

4th October - Inverness Service Point, Inverness;

1st November - Portree Community Centre, Portree, Isle of Skye;

8th November - Town Hall, Wick;

15th November - Council Offices, Drummuie, Golspie;

15th November - Gordon Square, Fort William;

15th November - 100 High Street, Kingussie,

22nd November - Council Offices, High Street, Dingwall; and

29th November - Court House, High Street, Nairn.

If you are a member of a community group who would like the Development Plans Team to come and discuss the local development plan with your group, please contact us with details of when you would like to meet with us and if there is a particular topic you would like to discuss as soon as possible and we will endeavour to meet your request.

How & By When to Make Comment
If you wish to make a written comment (the formal term is a "representation") on any part of the Plan or its related environmental assessment report (see below for details) this must be received by 5pm on 3rd December 2010 via:

The Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005
The Highland Council has prepared a Revised Environmental Report for the Highland wide Local Development Plan.

The document is available to view at Council
Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness and online at:
http://www.highland.gov.uk/developmentplans.

From the 24th September 2010 expressions of opinion on the Revised Environmental Report will be welcomed for a period of 10 weeks in writing to the address above.
