Funding for new Dornoch Development Officer approved

19th November 2018

Sutherland County Committee members gave their backing to Dornoch Area Community Interest Company's (DACICA) proposal to create a Community Development Manager Post.

DACIC was set up in 2007 as a voluntary organisation to enhance and develop the economy and community of the Sutherland town.

The Company have been successful in securing £50,000 from SSE Beatrice Fund to go towards employing a full time Community Development Manager for two years to focus on fund raising and project management with a particular focus on promoting the Dornoch Hub.

In a report , presented to Sutherland Councillors today, DACIC outlined their plans and applied to the Dornoch Common Good Fund for £20,000 to be paid over two years. They will also contribute £3,873 from their own funds to support the new post.

After members unanimously agreed to contribute £20,000 from the Common Good Fund, Chair of the Committee, Richard Gale said: "I’m happy to support this application for funding to go towards this new post. DACICA has a strong history of delivering projects in the town and I believe the moneyfrom the Common Good Fund over the next 2 years will be well spent."
