SHE Transmission shares views with Bonar Bridge residents
6th April 2016
Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission (SHE Transmission) has welcomed the Bonar Bridge Residents' Group to the project site.
The five members of the group were invited to take a tour of the site that will house a new substation at Loch Buidhe - just north of Bonar Bridge - and will link up via an overhead line connection to a further new substation at Lairg.
Taking in the current works on the platform for the substation, they were able to go through the details of the earthworks, drainage installation, foundation placement and construction with the project manager, Russell Stewart. He said:
Following the site visit, the group came back for a more detailed discussion on the future works that are planned for the site, including the completion of the improvements to the public road and the levels of traffic that we anticipate over the next few months.
It helps us enormously to be able to meet like this with residents and community groups, so we can share our information on the projects and they can share any concerns they might have, so we can address them. We’ll be looking to continue visits like this through the duration of the project.
In addition to the visits to the project site, a newsletter will be produced to keep the local community up-to-date with proposed traffic movements.
The Lairg to Loch Buidhe project will reinforce the transmission network serving the Lairg area and full details of the works can be found here - https://www.ssepd.co.uk/Lairg/
