Pay and display parking starts at Council HQ on 13 February

Motorists are being advised that pay and display parking at Highland Council's headquarters car park comes into force on Monday 13 February.

The pay and display scheme is part of the Council's Decriminalised Parking Enforcement across the Highlands.

Cllr Allan Henderson, Chair of the Council’s Community Services Committee said: "This change has come from a savings proposal agreed by Council in the December 2014 budget for implementation in 2015/16 to save £20,000 per year. The main benefits of this change are better management of the car park and savings to the Council."

A Traffic Order has been made which includes the HQ car park as a shared use permit and long-stay pay and display car park. New lining, signage and ticket machines installed will be enforced from Monday 13 February.

Any misuse of the car park will lead to £60 Penalty Charge Notices being issued by Parking Enforcement Officers. For example if a permit is not displayed, if a vehicle is parked outside of a bay or no pay and display ticket is purchased.

Members of the public will be permitted to use the car park using pay and display on Monday to Friday from 4pm to 8am, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Parking charges will be: up to 3 hours £2; over 3 hours up to 10 hours £4; and over 10 hours up to 24 hours £5.

All visitors to Council headquarters will have to log their car registration number with reception if they do not have a parking permit.
