Footway Improvements on the A9 At Brora
7th December 2020
4TH GENERATION TERM CONTRACT FOR MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SCOTTISH TRUNK ROAD NETWORK - NORTH WEST UNIT A9 BRORA FOOTWAY IMPROVEMENTS.
INFORMATION
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be undertaking essential footway improvements at various locations, adjacent to the A9 Trunk Road, between Dudgeon Park
Road and Harbour Road in Brora. A location plan is enclosed for geographical clarity.
The works will include footway reconstruction and installation of dropped kerbs and tactile paving at existing pedestrian crossing points. The project is programmed to commence on Monday 14th December 2020 and is expected to be completed by Wednesday 31st March 2021. Works will be undertaken between 7am and 7pm each day, with no works planned to be undertaken at weekends.
The road and footway will remain open. However, as a result of limited road widths through these sections, it will be necessary for a traffic management system incorporating temporary traffic signals with single lane closures.
Footway diversions will be in place throughout the works to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public. Where it is not safe to open the footway out with working hours, the lane closure will remain in place and a temporary walkway will be highlighted to allow pedestrians to pass safely.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
