Helpful Start To 2021 For Highland Pupils - Free School Meals Payments To Be Issued Automatically

As a result of the Level 4 announcement by the First Minister, which changes the start of term after Christmas for Highland schools, thousands of school pupils who are entitled to means-tested free school meals will automatically receive payment vouchers in early January 2021.

Chair of the Education Committee, Cllr John Finlayson said: "I am delighted that our free school meal vouchers will be paid automatically to our families without the need for them to complete application forms.

"The timing is important too as parents and carers will be receiving these vouchers at a time when they will also have expensive heating and other household bills to pay.

"To support effective learning, it is important that our school children and young people can access nutritious food and these vouchers will help with that. I would like to remind parents to inform their school should their contact details change as this will enable vouchers to be delivered on time."
