Advanced notice of temporary overnight road closures in Sutherland due to Network Rail works
11th November 2021
The Highland Council is advising drivers that two temporary overnight road closures will be in place in Sutherland next week in order for Network Rail to carry out works.
The first is the B871 Kinbrace - Syre Road which will be closed from its junction with the A897 Helmsdale - Melvich Road to its junction with the B873 Syre - Altnaharra Road from 20:00 hours on 14 November 2021 to 07:00 hours on 15 November 2021.
The road closure is necessary to allow Network Rail to perform rail works at the crossing. To avoid the road closure an alternative route will be available via the A897 Helmsdale - Melvich Road, A836 Dornoch Bridge - John O'Groats Road and a section of the B871 Kinbrace - Syre Road.
The second temporary closure required for railway crossing works is on the U2560 Marrel Road which will be closed to traffic from 20:00 hours on 15 November 2021 to 07:00 hours on 16 November 2021. There is no alternative route available during these closure hours.
