6,221 new cases of COVID-19 reported*. Please note that this figure now includes cases identified using either a first LFD (Lateral Flow Device) or PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) positive test.

0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends).

43** people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

1,557** people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,400,229 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,087,517 have received their second dose, and 3,204,311 have received a third dose or booster.

** One health board has not been able to submit data since Sunday 16/01/2022, their data has been rolled forwards from Saturday 15/01/2022.

in the week ending 9 January, 72 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate (Noting that death registrations for this period are affected by public holidays).

Since the start of the outbreak:

10,062 people have died who have tested positive as at 17 January.

12,543 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 9 January.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 9 January).

in the week ending 11 January, 1,011 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 16 January, 39 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

28,971 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 12 January, 1,608 people were delayed in hospital.
