Brora Development Trust Secures Nhi Funding Support
15th December 2023
The Brora Development Trust has been awarded funding from North Highland Initiative to help support families with school aged children with their food bills during the school holidays.
Brora Development Trust is a registered Scottish charity whose function is to address social, economic, environmental and cultural issues in the Brora district, and to enable the community to play a bigger role in shaping its own future.
This year, it has been announced that Brora Development Trust is to offer grocery vouchers to families in its area after successfully pulling together a £20,000 funding package. This will provide assistance to families with school aged children with their food bills during the holidays.
This latest initiative comes in the wake of a pilot project in December last year which saw the trust distribute 205 vouchers with a value of £20 each to families in Brora.
"The trust is committed to providing support to families this academic year as they continue to try to meet the financial demands of the high cost of living...School holidays can put additional pressure on households where children and young people do not have access to free school meals."
Tony Gill, Chairman for the Brora Development Trust
NHI INPUT
The trust has successfully secured £20,000 in funding from various donors, with North Highland Initiative contributing £10,000 of that total. The project was funded through our Community Resilience Fund. Our funding opportunity, that was launched in April 2023, aims to support and enable local projects in Caithness and North Sutherland. NHI welcomes applications that facilitate the region's much needed voluntary and not for profit services and build community resilience and sustainability. https://discoverbrora.com/
