£20m PiPP Funding For North, West And East Sutherland Welcomed
17th December 2025
The Highland Council welcomes the UK Government's announcement that Highland has been awarded £20million Pride in Place Programme (PiPP) funding.
Leader of The Highland Council, Cllr Raymond Bremner said:
"We have received confirmation from Kirsty McNeill MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland that the North, West and East Sutherland Neighbourhood has been identified as the neighbourhood within Highland Council area to receive PiPP funding.
"I am very pleased to confirm that the North, West and East Sutherland Neighbourhood will receive up to £20 million of funding and support over the next 10 years."
The neighbourhood was chosen following a consultative process that considered evidence provided by a range of local stakeholders.
The Pride in Place Programme is a new government funding programme, aimed at regenerating some of the most in-need neighbourhoods across the UK. It gives communities control of £2m every year for the next 10 years, to be spent on projects that will make a real difference to the neighbourhoods they live in.
The programme is providing certainty and security of funding over 10 years; allowing communities to spend their funding on the projects that matter most to them, in a way that works for them; putting local people at the heart of decision-making, with residents able to have their say on the future of their neighbourhood; and empowering people to build the skills and confidence they need to deliver change in their communities, through capacity funding and targeted support activities.
Cllr Bremner added we look forward to receiving more detail in due course from the UK Government on the delivery of the Pride in Place Programme.
The Pride in Place Programme builds upon the UK Government's ‘Plan for Neighbourhoods’ previously announced in March 2025. The Pride in Place Programme will expand this model to almost 250 of the most in-need neighbourhoods across Great Britain.
