International company recruiting home workers in Caithness and Sutherland

9th June 2013

International business services provider, Arise, is holding a series of recruitment advice sessions in Caithness and Sutherland to find local people interested in working from home.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has been working closely with the US company who now have a significant presence in the UK with offices in London and Edinburgh. The company services a growing client list to develop the innovative and flexible home working project.

The model offers significant benefits both to the business and to the many skilled people who live in the Highlands and Islands but who need flexibility around working hours or who would prefer to work from home. Customer service skills are the main requirement including experience in retail sales, account enquiries, claims and travel.

Dickon Moon, Director of Arise said: "Arise is delighted to continue our strong relationship with HIE in bringing our homeworking model to the region. These open days reflect our desire to capitalise on the success we have had in establishing a growing number of agents across the Highlands and Islands during the last 18 months."

Working with partners including Skills Development Scotland and Caithness Chamber of Commerce, HIE is keen to look at new opportunities and innovative ways of working to bring jobs to the area. The sessions are to be held in Wick, Thurso and Brora from 26 to 28 June.

Trudy Morris, Chief Executive of Caithness Chamber of Commerce said: “We are delighted that Arise is holding another series of recruitment advice sessions in the area.  The homeworking model gives flexible working and provides opportunities for those people who need or would like to work from home.  With the forthcoming roll-out of Next Generation Broadband across the Highlands and Islands, these opportunities will be further enhanced.  The Chamber’s team will be available at all the Caithness sessions to provide further advice and guidance.”

Samantha Whale, from HIE's Business and Financial Services Team, said; "Homeworking has been a feature of working life in the Highlands and Islands for many years, providing opportunities regardless of where people live. These information sessions are an ideal means to find out if homeworking is for you."

Thurso based homeworker Mairi Macleod,: “Being a homeworker has increased my independence, my self-esteem and my confidence. I love the flexibility of choosing my hours and I’ve made some of the best friendships of my life.” Mairi found out about opportunities with Arise by attending a previous homeworking session, hosted by HIE.
